O’er the ramparts we watched,
Were so gallantly, streaming? And the rockets’ red glare
The bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there.
The Star-Spangled Banner Songwriters: John Stafford Smith / Francis Scott Key
On the farm, we deal with a lot of problems from weather to equipment breakdowns to predators. Dealing with a predator is a battle. The predator is out to take something from us, usually livestock for food. But there are predators like raccoons, who take not for food but just to take and destroy. Recently, we have had raccoons preying upon the chickens.
Thinking about flag day and our country’s flag, I thought how our country has always had predators as well. These predators have come to take our freedoms and our feelings of peace and security. Just like with the farm, we fight these predators continuously to protect our way of life. It’s a never ending battle to preserve our country, our freedoms, and our rights.
With the farm, the only way we know when we have won a battle is our livestock is still there. With our country, we look for our flag. For as long as our flag is still flying we have won another battle. Our flag is a symbol of our freedom and a country filled with brave and determined men and women who will not give up the battle.
So on this flag day, fly old glory high and with pride for who we are as a nation. Our country is not perfect but it is one of the best. Thank you for visiting and #welcome2serenity.
