Over 200 years….that’s how long this farm has been in my family. It has held the homesteads of my great grandparents and my grandparents. Brick used in the building of both their homes was made right here on this farm. This land is a part of my family both in history and in blood.
I often sit and listen to my dad tell stories of his childhood on this farm just like I used to sit and listen to my grandfather do the same. My family has raised cattle, goats, horses, chickens, turkeys, pigs, pigeons, doves, and now sheep on this land. As a child, I remember planting and growing corn and watermelons in the larger fields as well as a “truck patch” garden. (Our “truck patch” garden easily covered an acre to an acre and a half.) I remember my grandmother foraging for edible wild plants to cook for meals. My grandparents truly lived off the land.
This farm holds good and bad memories for me but all in all it is my serenity. My dream is to revive this farm to a Family Homestead that merges skills, knowledge, and techniques from the past to new technology of the future. This website documents my path to that dream. This is my serenity, so enjoy and welcome to my serenity.
